Some are programmable and some are not. Some will accept tall coffee mugs and some only allow those little bitty coffee cups, and that is really annoying for the serious coffee drinker. Some have an automatic shut off, for the forgetful types, and some do not. And some allow the caffeine junkie to set the strength level of each cup of coffee. It just depends on what features you want.

It all depends on what you want. Your humble, but caffeine-addicted host, has the Mr. Coffee one-cup coffee maker. The most important feature to me is ease of use and being able to brew the coffee in the cup I will be using... my travel mug. It was not cheap at $80, but I can turn on the pot, get ready for work, and have my daily dose of wake-me-up on my 30-mile commute to the daily "grind" (pun intended).
