Lori Evans, Deputy Commissioner, New York State Department of Health to Present Opening Keynote at the 2008 Health Tech Investment Forum
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 10, 2008 -- The Collaborative Communications Summit: (CCS) Health Tech Investment Forum announces that Lori Evans, Deputy Director, New York State Department of Health who leads the Office of Health Information Technology Transformation (OHITT), will present the opening Keynote at this year's forum Tuesday, September 30th at 8:30am in New York City. http://www.ccsexpo.com/healthtechforum.html
Ms. Evans serves as a Deputy Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health leading a new Office of Health Information Technology Transformation (OHITT). OHITT, created by the Governor of New York in 2007, is responsible for government and private sector efforts to support improvements in health care quality, affordability and outcomes for all New Yorkers through widespread deployment of health information technology. Ms Evans is responsible for a $500M investment in New York's health information infrastructure.
This year's opening keynote will shed light on where significant healthcare IT investment is being channeled and what that means for technology providers and investors. Ms. Evans will also share her perspective on the enormous potential healthcare IT has for transforming healthcare and where new opportunities lie. Although adoption rates across the country are still relatively low, those providers who have successfully implemented health IT systems are seeing significant savings and improved patient care. Enormous investment opportunities exist for groups who identify technology firms with unique business models and high growth potential.
"There's an enormous inefficiency out there in the movement of clinical data and information," said Dana Callow, a Boston-based venture capitalist who invests in health IT companies. The potential in health care IT is so huge that companies are seeing double-digit growth every year. "In the 22 years I've been doing private investment in systems and service areas, this is the fastest payback I've seen for any hospital or health care provider," said Callow. *source CNBC.
