Mr. Sauro said, "The reason I wrote the book was because so many people are misinformed about what is really important when taking out a mortgage to buy or refinance. I talk about how to choose a mortgage company, what controls interest rates, how to pick the right mortgage for your needs, and different types of unique financing programs."

He offered some thoughts on the real estate market in Connecticut and the region, "I believe we hit a bottom last August in the housing market and it should demonstrate a moderate, but healthy resurgence this year with a minimum of 8-10% appreciation. Much of the speculation is gone from the market, leaving serious buyers and sellers. This spring will be a great time to buy or sell a home. Houses coming on for sale this spring will be more reasonably priced by sellers who have readjusted their expectations, which will bode well for buyers in this low interest rate environment, with more houses to choose from."
